The Season of giving is over. Seriously?
The Hanukkah and Christmas seasons are behind us, but giving continues in our little Anthem community. On February 2, Cross of Christ Church is holding a fundraiser at Ironwood Country Club to benefit children/teens who are aging out of the foster system. Take a look at www.ocjkids.org and read all about what’s going on in Arizona alone with 18,000 children and teens in the foster care system.
Another local organization, Anthem Giving Circle, is hosting a luncheon and purse auction on February 6. It’s an opportunity to bid on new and gently used purses with all profits going back into the community to assist families with many different needs.
On February 16 the ACTS organization (Anthem Cares Through Service) is holding a silent auction, also at Ironwood, that will hopefully bring in at least $75K. Again, the funds are used to help so many in our community.
We don’t know how much longer we’ll be blessed to live in this area, but we’re certainly grateful for the 9 years we’ve resided in this generous and caring corner of the world! We moved here from Perham, MN, and I promise you that community has the same giving spirit. There’s still a lot of people who truly follow the scripture “it is more blessed to give than to receive” from Acts 20:35.
Tune in next week to learn how Jerry and I celebrated our 50th anniversary last July with a fundraiser that brought in a lot of $$ for Food for the Hungry.
Loved the blog and look forward to next week’s. With love and prayers for you and Jerry. Bess

Thanks for your beautiful writing. See you this week in Dallas (if the ice/snow doesn’t stop you)! Love, Linda
The spirit of generosity flows from your heart, Charlotte. The love, joy, encouragement and hope you give to others is a blessed gift from above. Thank you.
