To share or not to share…

There’s no doubt everyone reading this is struggling while the entire world is in such turmoil. I decided to finally share what has been so heavy on my heart for the past 15 days. Our son,  Jeremy, and his lovely sweetheart, Aylin, are on approximately  day 15 of battling the horrible COVID19.  They seemed to rally over the weekend and we rejoiced.  But yesterday and today they are much worse.  We kept pleading with them to seek medical help rather than just self quarantine in their home in Westchester County NY, one of  the first epicenters in the USA for this  virus.  It wasn’t  until a little while ago after I texted them and threatened to fly out there if they refused to go to the ER that Jeremy gave a little more detail. I hope he doesn’t mind that I’m sharing it here.  “Mom, it’s important that you  understand what’s happening out here. We’re ok, not getting better but not in CRITICAL condition. People in their 60’s with fever are being turned away at hospitals because their oxygen levels are “ok”. If we went to the hospital now they would send us home.  When/if we get to a critical or dangerous place, we absolutely would go. Until then there is nothing that we or you can do except to wait this out.  Appreciate the  concern,  but you cannot come and endanger yourself or others along the way”.

Friends (those of you I know personally and some I’ve never met),  thank you for reading this.  If you are a person of faith and believe in prayer, we covet your prayers at this time for the healing of Jeremy and Aylin.  What I want you, any or all of  you to do that will help Jerry and me through the days ahead is to send us YOUR prayer requests.  Prayer is powerful and it drawers us closer to the Lord. We want so much to pray for you or your loved ones during this time, whether it’s a physical need, spiritual need or especially if it’s for healing from this virus or other illness.  If it’s a request you feel comfortable sharing with the others readers, just respond on  the comment line.  If  you want just Jerry and me to be aware, then email me.

Galatians 6:2 “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” We are praying for the burdens on the shoulders of our President, his advisors and staff, other world leaders, doctors and patients the world over,  and especially for wisdom to know how to help those around us. The list goes on and on…..job losses, businesses shutting down. You know all about it because it’s constantly on the news.

May you know peace, the peace described in Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

I hope you and your family members will be fine. I had no idea that your son and Aylin have the Covid-19. This is so scary! Just try to hang in there. My thoughts are with you and your family.

    Hugs,

    Linda

They will be added to my prayers immediately to get over this horrid virus. I pray everyday many times for our President and our loved ones and friends. It could happen to any of us. I do hope they are checking their oxygen level and have what they need. It is a shame that a dr or nurse could check them out but everywhere we are short of staff. We pray for you and Jerry too. ❤️❤️

The cases seem to be getting closer to home. I fear for so many.
My half sister and niece are both nurses in Pennsylvania. My niece is pregnant, working directly with covid patients and has minimal protection. My sister called to say “when they say stay at home, DO IT!! This stuff is terrifying”. She, normally, has a rather calm demeanor…. it changed. The last thing anyone wants to do is instill any more fear than we already have. And then we have the idiots…. far too many. Like my neighbor that came up behind me and gave me a hug after returning 2 days prior from a month in China without quarantining himself. Because of him, I have been self-quarantined for over a month “just in case”. Another neighbor makes a daily trip to drink with his buddies as well as regular trips to the grocery store. So much selfishness. I don’t mean to be a downer, but when you have a child with an underlying health condition and there are people that don’t care, it angers me.

I pray for all of us!

I’ll certainly be praying. I lost a friend a few days ago to this awful virus. I have 4 cousins… well now I guess it is 6 cousins dealing with it as well. One of them is having heart issues and is in ICU. Where he is at in Georgia, they test everyone to determine what wing they will be cared for in. He tested positive so he is in isolation in the COVID-19 ICU. The thing is, the end of January he was found unconscious in his back yard. He was in hospital, touch and go for two weeks with high fever and pneumonia. The doctors believe he had it back then and is now just testing positive, as he has been in ICU for a week with not one symptom. They will keep him for a full 14 days and then 14 days of isolation at home. What a crazy virus this is developing into. My daughter has been sick for almost two weeks and we don’t have the tests here to test her. Not one test in our entire county. Anyway, my prayers have been many these days.

    Dear Charlotte and Jerry,
You are in my heart and I hear your plea. My prayers are with you both and asking our dear Lord to lay his healing hands on Jeremy and Aylin.
I am still with my daughter Tracey and grandson Alex in Pleasanton.
I can’t begin to tell you how much I miss my place in the Cross of Christ family. I have visited other churches here only to walk away.
Can you please say a prayer for me that God will lead me to a place to serve? Thank you.

Charlotte, thank you for expressing what is on your heart. Am praying for you, your family and for all of our country. Our Lord taught us “do not be afraid” and not to worry…but it is so hard. We know prayer is the remedy.

“The Lord is near. Do not be anxious, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”. Phil.4:6

So sorry to hear that Jeremy and Aylin are battling the virus! They and you are in our prayers for their return to health, and you and Jerry for peace and comfort as we know how worried you must be. Sending you much love and many virtual hugs! 🙏🙏🤗🤗

Charlotte – I will continue to pray for all of you. Thank you for sharing. I share the anger Michelle Miller shared. Trying to be good I went to Costco during the special senior shopping hours, but Costco was letting everyone in. Grandparents taking their children and grandchildren in with them. So selfish. I also tried the 6:00AM special shopping hour for seniors at our local Kroger, and again the doors opened and they let everyone in, included several couples that were in their 20s. Again selfish folks that don’t care about us seniors and the special risk we are facing. But I also blame the stores for not enforcing their own rules. Very difficult times made worse by idiots.

Oh wow! I will definitely be praying for them and you! Get some rest, worrying won’t help you! I’m praying for peace, healing and the presence of the Spirit for all of you! Let the LORD be your shield and hiding place! Love you all! Kathleen 🙂

Our prayer list grows every day and Jeremy and Aylin are tenderly added. Our mother Mary Barnhard always assured us that miles only separate bodies but never hearts. We lift you up Char as you worry at such distance, but know with certainty that “friendship doubles joys and halves our griefs” ( Dolly Madison- 1768-1845). Love and (physically distanced) hugs from Missouri. Judi

Char and Jerry, it must give your great comfort reading all the supporting comments that are sent your way. Know that Jeremy and Aylin are also added to my extensive prayer list. The note that Jeremy sent makes good sense, and I believe that he and Aylin are doing the right things – given the circumstances. May the Lord protect our healthcare workers, heal those with COVID 19, and guide our medical team to come up with a vaccine and effective combating medicine for this awful virus. I hold you close to my heart, Char.

So sorry to hear that your son and his girlfriend has the virus. I have 4 cousins in NY and NJ who tested positive. All of them had recurring symptoms, but are now feeling well and back to work! Please update on how they are doing.

Our prayers go out to Jeremy and Aylin and to you, Char and Jerry, one of the most caring and loving couples we’ve met, as well as to all our family and friends, near and far. Our Minister is calling all of our members and how reassuring it was to speak with him Be well and find peace in all the messages you have received. Hugs!

    Ann
