Some “G” words to ponder, seriously!

Probably the one G word that bothers me most is GREED.  If we’re honest, it may be a tendency we all have to deal with.  When is enough enough?  I admit I love GIFTS (both to give and receive) and GLITTER (including GAUDY Christmas sweaters).  Another G word I have been known to slip into my life is GRINCH.  Alas, it’s easy to throw cold water on someone’s enthusiasm if we aren’t in agreement.  I did that recently, so it makes me a GRINCH! My least favorite G word is GLUTTONY.  A few days ago one of Jerry’s customers sent me a wonderful box of See’s chocolates. I did nothing to deserve this delectable delight, but they were thankful I had given Jerry the go ahead to work on their computer on a Sunday afternoon.  This is not something he normally does because he takes a lot of GRIEF from me, but they were in a bind.  Little did they know I GRUMBLED! Yes, GRUMBLED and GRIPED! And then GLUTTONY kicked in and I  hid the box of chocolates (Forrest Gump may have approved). My GUILTY conscience kicked in, and I finally offered Jerry a chocolate. The sweet man declined.  He totally understands what it means to be GENEROUS, a lesson I’m working on.

As we wrap up the Christmas season, my prayer (in additionto sending out Christmas cards which still hasn’t happened in this house) isthat God who GRACIOUSLY sent His only begotten Son, will fill my heart andyours with GRATITUDE and GRACE!

Washington Irving (1783-1859) penned these words: “How easy is it for one benevolent being to diffuse pleasure around him,  and how truly is a kind heart a fountain of GLADNESS, making everything in its vicinity to freshen into smiles”.  As Jerry and I are in the process of baking for a Christmas feast with special friends, we are also thinking of you, both near and far, who have GIFTED us with your love and friendship.  A very blessed Christmas and happy, healthy and prosperous New Year! Thanks be to GOD for His remarkable GIFT that arrived in an unremarkable package in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago!

As always, I love reading your blogs. This time, though, I thought to
myself that I should have given you something the other day at your
cookie party! I didn’t! Shame on me. I wasn’t being greedy because
I remember asking if I should bring some cookies. You told me not
to do that, so I didn’t. Dumb me didn’t think about bringing you a
    gift–(starts with a “g”!!)
