Saying goodbye to a wonderful example of God’s love…until we meet again.

Dear Faithful Readers:

On November 23, not quite 6 weeks ago, our dear friend, Dr. Susan Haack-Speichinger, was my guest blogger.

A few days ago Susan, after fighting a most courageous battle with cancer, went to be with the Savior she wrote about nearly every day of the year. We rejoice in her eternal life with Jesus but grieve because of the emptiness we feel in our hearts.  Sunday morning church services without her beautiful violin accompaniment will be missed by the entire congregation who loves her dearly. Susan was also a devoted Stephen Minister, and we had high hopes she would be the one taking over the leadership of our congregation’s Stephen Ministry program. Hopefully, the unselfish life Susan lived will encourage us in the days ahead to do our best to follow her example.

Our prayers are with Susan’s beloved husband, Jim (Spice) Speichinger and all of their family and friends.

Blessed New Year and peace be with you,

Charlotte

Thank you for letting me know, Charlotte. I knew her time was coming soon but was so sad anyway. She fought a long and mighty battle.
I am in Freezing cold Michigan with my youngest daughter and 2 little granddaughters 21/2 and 17 months.
I sent Spice a text and will be home Friday to help with anything needed.
Please let me know when the service is scheduled.

No words. We are still in deep freeze of Chicago. I read post yesterday morning and cried. Susan and I came together at Stephen training. She an OB gyn doc and me an OB gyn nurse. We were prayer partners and shared a bond. EArly on we had conversations about the virility of her disease. We both knew this was going to be a huge challenge. We talked of the many challenges with insurance, treatment, difficulty eating, pain and discomfort. She never complained. She remained strong and determined to live life on her terms until the end. She willed this and did it. An inspiration to us all. Her faith and belief carried her and beamed as an example to us al. Susan was very bright, creative, loving, humorous and very strong. I will miss her as a prayer partner and as a friend.
RIP Susan Haack; look up my Kristin and take care of her.

I knew Susan from Saturday morning bible study, but not as well as I would have liked. I have great respect for how she battled cancer and how she lived. She was such an inspiration to all around her.
She will be truly missed in so many ways. I’ll never forget the beauty she brought to all of us with her violin at Sunday service. I’m sure she is playing for Jesus now.
Much love and prayers go out to her family in this time of loss.

I am so sad to have lost Susan without a proper “Goodbye”! It reminds us of how quickly life passes us by if we are not always focused! We will miss all the gifts Susan shared with us at Cross of Christ! She was a shining example of how to “fight the good fight of faith” in living and dying! I am so comforted in the reality of her now in being in the presence of Jesus! May His peace and grace be upon Jim and her family!
