My socks must weigh 5 lbs. Seriously!!!

When asked why I haven’t been blogging in a while, my response is I’m too busy grabbing the crumbs off the floor, trying to get to them before the cats do. But first a little update on the cats. Hekyl’s hair has grown out a little bit and Jekyl finally decided he recognizes his brother. It’s good they are friends again, but they have joined forces conspiring against me, trying to grab any little crumb of food that I may have dropped. When I, the germophobe, dropped an itty bitty piece of muffin on the floor the other day, it would have grossed you out to see me scramble to reach it before the cats could lay claim. Now that’s a new meaning to the “5 second rule!”

Socks are always challenging...

Why am I suffering in this manner and being so selfish with the kitties? In an effort to improve my overall health, including quest for lower blood pressure, I have been on this so-called healthier eating plan the past three weeks. The food I am allowed to consume each meal, including snacks, is all quite tasty. The portions are just so ridiculously tiny that the hunger pangs linger on after the meal is devoured. For example, Jerry asked me the other night how I liked the turkey medallions and mashed potatoes. Medallions is a fancy name for tiny little morsels of something resembling meat. The potato portion was about the size of two thimbles. In all fairness to the company supplying these delectable delights, the meal really was quite tasty. I would’ve been much happier with it if I could have quadrupled the portions. The kitties must’ve thought it smelled good because they watched me like little hawks, hoping I would share. No way, Jose! My days of food sharing are over!!! It’s a dog eat dog world (ugh, that sounds disgusting) until I reach my recommended goal. True confession: Jerry is on the plan also and has lost over twice the amount I have, but I think my mistake is weighing myself with socks on. Even though my feet will get cold, I’m taking off the socks now and heading to the kitchen to enjoy a lunch of beef stir fry melt. Sounds good, but it’s about the size of five toothpicks. But seriously, folks, we have come to the conclusion we don’t know true hunger when so many people in the world go to bed with empty tummies every night. That’s one of the reasons why organizations like “Food for the Hungry” are so important. The Bible has many verses relating to food. One of my favorites is from Psalm 107:9 “For He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.” Also, in Matthew 6:25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” Signing off with a seriously happy heart for all He provides!

Oh Charlotte, even in the most ridiculous situations, you write with great humor. The diet battle is always there…………and it does make us wonder why there are so many overweight people in the United States (and other first world countries) when there is such malnutrition elsewhere. However, malnutrition is not a “diet”……….

So take it a day at a time and I can’t wait for the next segment of this hysterical saga.
    Love, Linda

Yes, I heard a young girl from Venuzula telling the story of her brother drowing in the river and people fighting for a piece of skin from his corpse…. to eat.
Seriously, we can only thank God that our struggles in life revolve around losing a few pounds. However, the struggle is real and we can be thankful at the same time. “Food for the Poor” is a great organization.

  3. Always love your blogs. Maybe my problem has been “weighing with my socks on”. Yeah, that’s it!!! Thanks for the clue. And shouldn’t you feed the cats? Bess
    p.s. I hope you know I’m joking!!

I loved Julys blog which I didn’t see until I got the latest one, and it was hilarious as well! I took our cat in for shots today and he retaliated by pooping in the kennel twice! Lovely smell all the way home. He got the grooming agony done a couple of months ago and he’s looking much better now that’s it grown out a bit 😂 Happy Anniversary ❤️🍰🎉🥂🤗💐

Keep at it girl and you will be so happy when all your snowbird friends say “Wow, you look
terrific”. Then they will all be trying your diet plan and you will be out shopping for sassy new duds
and Jerry will be wondering where all the $$$$$ went but so proud of you.
    It’s a WIN WIN🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
