Laugh & world laughs with you, whine & you whine alone. Seriously?

Yes, I changed this old saying a little bit. It’s really “laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone.” Both versions are big fat lies. I am serious because I have whined and cried and called out to the Lord to heal our son and his lovely mate from this debilitating disease called COVID19. I have NOT been alone in these pleas. After posting a blog about Jeremy & Aylin 9 days ago, both Jerry & I were overwhelmed with text messages, emails, and phone calls from oodles of you with words of support and promises of prayers. Thank you so much for this amazing show of love. There were so many I didn’t take the time to answer each one because that task seemed overwhelming. Jerry and I hope you understand.

God is answering prayer! The kids are now on approximately day 24 of this nightmare, but they are slowly improving and even getting work done from their home offices. I heard from our friends in Dallas who are just a few years older than our kids. On about day 29 for them they were still dealing with coughing, body aches and pains and exhaustion, similar to what we have heard from others.

If I have learned one or two things from this almost worldwide shutdown it is there are a lot of wonderful people out there. Every day we see or hear reports of people helping people. I know you hear about them also. Therefore, I won’t elaborate here. Just keep your eyes and ears open for the best news and try to ignore the Debbie Downers, especially the media who can be so unbelievably negative.

We got a chuckle when a friend told us someone had left a package of toilet paper by their front door. They have no idea who the person was but it sure made their day. I’m heading off to the kitchen to scrub like a surgeon and make some lavender cookies for a few folks who could use a perk. Paying it forward doesn’t have to be something huge. Even little acts of kindness mean a lot so if you are able, share a little love with a friend, neighbor or even your spouse. Radical, huh? I know many of you are tired and weary. Isaiah 41:10 encourages us with these words, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Dearest Char – I was relieved and grateful when reading that your son and his partner were recovering. As a mom, I know that you’re comforted and blessed- I’m also glad that you didn’t go on your cruise a week later, you might still be out on the water!

Loved hearing this news. God is good all the time. We must cling to the truth about our prayer 2 Chronicles 7:14.
Prayers shall continue for your son and partner— and for our world which needs them so. Thank you for your posting Char. God bless you!

So glad to hear that Jeremy and Allyn are on the road to recovery (my brother’s step-daughter was a victim). THIS IS SERIOUS STUFF! We all need to be responsible to do our part and I know that you and Jerry are doing that. Thank you for your uplifting article. Keep the faith and keep the laughter!
