Celebrating our 152nd Birthday. Seriously!!!

Last spring our friends, Chuck and Julie Brown, were planning a 150th birthday party for Jerry and me since Jerry’s 75th birthday was May 8 and mine was July 27. With the COVID-19 pandemic raging across the world, those lovely plans fell by the wayside. One year later large gatherings are still discouraged. How then could we find a way to celebrate our combined birthdays in a fun and meaningful way? Well, yesterday in the mail we received a letter from Food for the Hungry encouraging us to participate in their Miles Against Poverty Challenge. Seriously?!!!! This wonderful organization expects us to participate in a Walk/Run/Bike Challenge when I have difficulty walking from one end of a big box store to the other? My first thought when I read the brochure was “Oh, it’s too bad we can’t participate.”  Then I felt convicted about even thinking the word “can’t”. The Bible verse Philippians 4:13 states “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  Jerry and I talked it over, and praying for wisdom and strength, we are going to rise to the challenge.  We know the little boy we sponsor with a small monthly donation, Alexander Josue from Nicaragua, will be blessed by your pledges. Countless others in impoverished nations across the world will also benefit from your love and support!

Please click on the following link to pledge any amount from $5 to $500. Less or more is also fine.

As you prayerfully consider your donation, please know we love and appreciate you, but our love pales in comparison to the Lord who tells us in Matthew 25:40: And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
